Is there a Mooney and Banister Connection?

My grandfather, who was born Archie Munroe Banister ((April 23, 1886 - 1950) in Montaque County, Texas. The son of Lawrence Banister(Aug 10,1833 - Jan 23, 1910), and his 2nd wife: Mary Catherine Miller (Oct 23, 1844 -Jan 23, 1910), She was 1/2 Cherokee Indian. He change his name to Arthur E. Mooney as a adult. My mother and her sibblings have gone by the name Mooney all their lives. I am aware that Indians, have always shown preference to their maternal lines. There is a possibility that Mary Catherine's mother's maiden name was Mary Mooney. Her dad was John Miller b.1811 in Ky. My great grandmother Mary Catherine (Miller) Banister was born in Hickory County, Mo. Lawrence Banister's father William Banister (Jan 16,1807 - Jan 26,1867) was also born in Ky. He married Nancy Bench. Would love to hear from anyone that can help me solve this enigma in my family.
