Found this while searching the PRONI records the other day and thought it might be important as these early Moody's might tie in to the later "bleach-green" John MOODY who had son William who came to Pittsburgh, PA in 1816 with half brother Robert MOODY. Robert BEARD (as the record shows the name spelled, but it is among the "BAIRD" family records), married Martha MOODY daugh. of William MOODY, merchant, all of Limavady, Co. L'derry, NI. Skip Foward to 1799 - There was an Indenture notice (bargaining and sale) involving William BAIRD, gentleman of Philadelphia, PA, who was a son and an heir of Robert BAIRD's who had already deceased by this date but who was noted as being "of Strabane" (Co. Tyrone which adjoins Co. L'derry and where I've made note of finding so many of our possible early MOODIE/Moody ancestors), TO John MOODY of Newtownlimavady property in Carrowmuddle, Co. L'derry. There is also a copy of a lease from William BAIRD to Jacob MARTIN in Carrowmuddle Co. L'derry dated 1734-1735. Also on this list is an Averell LECKY to Samuel MARTIN estates in Co.'s Antrim, Tyrone and L'derry. IS this earlier William MOODY the merchant of Limavady, Possibly the Father of the above John MOODY who MIGHT have been "bleach-green" John who also named a son "William"?? If so then these notes could be very significant in possibly finding a link between these families. AND another Possible Thought is that IF this William BAIRD were somehow related to these MOODY's, and he was living in Philadelphia in 1799, might he be the "UNCLE" that William MOODY (b.1791) and his half-brother Robert MOODY lived with for a time in "Philadelphia" in 1816 when they arrived in America that the Ledlie-Moody book describes?? Did this William BAIRD by any chance marry a "MOODY" gal? Just wanted to post this info in case it turns out to be something useful down the road for someone. The MOODY's and MARTIN's are intermingled within our MOODY - McQUISTON/McCuiston lines as well. Notify Administrator about this message?
