Thanks to my cousin Nancy L., she found a bit more detail for me one of my James Moody's Rev. War cards...it shows him in the 7th MA (also known as the 6th MA regt. when it was under Col. Ichabod ALDEN, but after Alden was killed at Cherry Hill, NY, this reg. was taken over by Col. John BROOKS and apparently became known as the 7th MA regt.), anyway, my James MOODY enlisted in Dec. 1776 into Capt. Daniel Lane's company of Col. Ichabod Alden's regt., and signed on for 3 years. In Sept. of 1777 he was listed as a 'deserter' but as my cousin explained to me, these solider's were given 30 to 40 day furloughs in which they were to find their way home and back and often they were not deserters but lost and trying to find their way back to their regiment. Apparently that was the case of my James as he mustered out of the Rev. War on Dec. 31, 1779.
This is the first piece of info I've had on my James Moody for years. The last tid bit was when I found his Marriage record in the Buxton, York Co., ME Congregational Church in Jan. 1774.
This is the same James that the DAR has listed as being married to my 5th grt. grandmother as well and the same James that the Buxton Historical Society has listed and who sent me the info about him several years back.
Since my James died Before Sept. 4, 1785 he is not to be confused with the other James Moody of Standish, ME who also served in the Rev. War but in a different Regt. and at different places.
He also died in the early 1800's in Standish.
However, I have to add that the Joshua MOODY of Baldwin, Cumberland Co., ME whose 3rd wife was Rebecca PHINNEY, he served in the exact same Regt. as my James MOODY which has always made me Very Suspicious that an OOOOOPS in the Genealogy's has occured. It was common was brothers to sign on into the same Company's and Regts. during war times.
However this could just be a coincidence. I know my James is not the one of Standish but the Names being the same and both men being married to women named "Elizabeth" sure could make for a big mistake in the records.
Not to mention that "Carsley" name that shows up in this Joshua Moody's line and also appears in my James' daughter's family tree as some of her children and grandchildren etc. gave the middle name of "Carsley" to some of their kids. However, I think they might have been named for a preacher who was in the Harrison, ME area where they lived. Just a guess, but who knows?
The Ydna of Joshua Moody ~ based solely on Supposed accurate genealogy~ says we are NOT related to that line as he supposedly descends from the William of Newbury, MA line to whom we do Not share any ydna links.
But if this Joshua Moody and his brother James Moody are placed Incorrectly in the genealogies (as we've seen proven before by those in our Ydna project...it Can happen even when the best of intentions have been made to find well documented evidence of family trees), then this could change everything.
One of my Possible theories that I have aired on here before is that this Joshua MOODY is a descendant of the Joshua R. MOODIE who came to the Lake Umbagog region of now Oxford Co., ME area (and the NH border) in the 1690's from Ayrshire, Scotland.
IF, by some chance my James MOODY is a descendant of that man's lineage line, that could be showing some link.
I've never been able to prove it, and probably never will be able to, but I have to keep that door open as a possibility until solidly proven otherwise.

Anything I am most excited to have a printed form showing Something of my 5th grt. grandfather's existence from his Rev. War card in the 7th MA regt.
Thanks cousin Nancy L.
