I didn't find Anything on Hopkins MOODY, would he have gone by another name perhaps? There is a Robert MOODY in the right time frame in New York city however.... 1850 NY NY -Ward 7 - Aug. 21st Robert MOODY age 24 (so b.c1826) laborer b. Ireland living with Patrick MASTERTON (a name I have found associated with Moodie's in Scotland) also b. in Ireland he was a cartman or carthand (very hard to read the handwriting) and his wife Ann and very young son Patrick. Also living in the house with them was a man named James BOYLE and another man named James but whose last name I cannot make out but it looks to start with a "T". I would certainly think that if Hopkins and Robert MOODY both being around the same age came on the same ship together from Nor. Ireland to NY that they were related somehow. One of our Ydna MOODY's (a line of a John MOODY who was a bootmaker b.c1816) and family came from Ireland to NY around this same time too I think and they named a son Robert. Their Robert MOODY became a "hatter" and Haberdasher (clothier) and they removed to Fairfield Co., CT for a time but then later Robert showed back up in NY city. (Census info). There could be some link here as well between your family and our Ydna MOODY's that came to NY city. That would be interesting to find out. Hopefully your husband's ydna results will reveal more news for us and give placement once and for all to some of these lines out of Nor. Ireland. Notify Administrator about this message?
