I am searching for info regarding the marriage of James McQUISTAN (spelled that way) b.c1795 poss. in the Renfrewshire area of Scotland who married Janet McADAM b.c1796 she poss. of the same area. They are given as the Parents of a daughter Isabella McQUISTAN who was christened on Aug. 28, 1825 at Port Glasgow, Renfrew, Scotland (per IGI records taken from the OPR's).
I did find an Isabella McQUISTON who married an Allan MOODIE on Nov. 25, 1843 in West or Old Parish, Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland which ~MIGHT~ be this very Isabella.
The IGI records from Renfrew have been Overwhelming and teaming with the Very Names that our MOODY's and McQUISTON's intermarried with dating back to the 1600's.
I posted some of these Batch #'s yesterday. See also BATCH # C115742 (in the IGI records on Family Search) it has a lot of these names as well.
Same place same batch, Alexander HOG married a Margaret MUDIE and their son Alexander was christened at Port Glasgow, in Oct. 1706. The HOGG name shows up in one of PA Ydna participants family trees linked to our Moody's in Nor. Ireland as well.
Same BATCH - James MUDIE married Grizell RANKINE and their daughter Margaret was christened in Port Glasgow, Renfrew, in Aug. 1721. James and Grizel also had a son named James MOODIE (note spelling change of last name and he was christened in Aug. 1723, also daughter Isabell MOODIE christ. Sept. 1725.
John McKEMMIE (Note this last name was found among Pres. Andrew Jackson's family line I believe down in SC) married a Janet LOCKHEART and their son John McKEMMIE was christ. April 1711 in Port Glasgow.
A Duncan McNERON christened Oct. 1728 same place son of Patrick McNERON and Jane McNERON (all of these IGI entries by the way ARE SOURCED and taken from the Old Parish Church records)
Matthew DENNY and wife Elizabeth RAE had son Robert DENNY christened same place May 1720.
John DONALD and wife Janet WATERS had daughters all christened here in 1707, 08 and 1711 and the name was spelled alternately DONALD to DONAL....just the way or similar as my 5th grt. grandmother's name switched from DONALD to Donnell and Dunnell in Maine.
John DONALD and wife Mary CRAUFORD [sic? Crawford] had son David DONALD christened March 1739.
John McADAM and wife Sarah ARMOUR had son Alexander McADAM christ. July 1730
Patrick McADAM married a Mary RANKIN in Port Glasgow, Renfrew, Scotland and their daug. Margaret was christened there in Oct. 1718. So these families were tight.
Another BATCH C100081 had an Isobel MUDIE christ. July 1696 in Kilbarchan, Renfrew, Scotland and her parents were James MUDIE and Margaret LAIRD (from OPR's)
Another BATCH had the following:
Batch C119626 - Matthew MOODIE and wife Janet CARR had son Matthew MOODIE christened in Dec. 1752 Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland.
Same batch and place as above entry
Daniel MOODIE and wife Isabel PETERSON had son Robert MOODIE christ. Aug. 1747 (they also had sons James & Henry and daughters too all christened in same place in Renfrew).
Another BATCH # C115672 has the following:
James MOODY and wife Isobell ROY had son Patrik MOODY born April 1695 in Inverkip, Renfrew, Scotland
Same place and batch as above-
Edward MOODY and wife Jean FORREST had son John MOODY b. Jan. 6, 1699.
Another entry for them has daughter Isobel MOODIE (note spelling change of last name) born Sept. 16, 1705 same place and Edward her father's last name is also spelled as MOODIE.
Same batch and place as noted above (Inverkip) has -
James MOODY and wife Elizabeth BOOG, son Edward MOODY christ. March 1699, they also had a daughter Isobel MOODIE (again note spelling change) March 1703 at Inverkip, her father James' last name is also spelled as MOODIE.
Same place and batch - Robert MOODY and wife Janet MORISON had son Robert MOODY born July 1716.
I looked in Leona B. McQuiston's book for a listing of this couple but found none, so am posting this in hopes someone else might have further details about this couple (McQuistan and McAdam).
