While doing a look-up yesterday I ran into a most interesting batch of names in the IGI records which Thankfully ARE Sourced from the Parish registers of Thurso/Caitness, Scotland from 1647-1854. (Church of Scotland). Batch # C110412 In this batch I found MUDIE's, MOODIE's, McHUISTON's, KARRE's, CHISOLME (spelled that way), JACKSON, SANDERSON,(might have later been shortened to just SANDERS), STEWART, BRUCE, CAMPBELL, DAVIDSON, DICK, MOWAT, GILLESPIE, KEITH etc. In this Batch - #C110362 of Dunnet, Caithness, Scotland ~ MOODIE, SINCLAIR, BRUCE (married to a James MOODIE) In this Batch - #M119571 of Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland ~ MOODY-KERR marriage in 1777 MOODY-HOUSTOUN marriage in 1739 McQUISTON-ARMOUR marriage in 1787 MOODY-GLASS marriage in 1728 MOODY-BURNS marriage in 1773 MOODY-FOSTER marriage in 1791 MOODIE-YOUNG marriage in 1754 MOODY-LANG marriage in 1786 MOODY-NEISMITH marriage in 1773 (All Sourced via the OPR records) Switching over to Ayshire, Scotland on the Western side of the country which is the very nearest to Nor. Ireland I found in the following Batches - Batch # M116002 MOODIE-McGREAN (shortened to just GREEN later?) Marriage in 1676 at Kirkmichael, Ayr, Scotland ARMSTRONG-McGREAN 1780 at Kirkmichael (ALL Marriages are from KIRKMICHAEL, Ayrshire, Scotland unless otherwise specified) MUDIE-RAMSAY 1669 MOODIE-McNAB 1732 OSTINE (Austin - Uisdean?)-AIRD 1719 AUSTINE-BELL 1762 AUSTINE=GILLISPIE 1732 POLLOCK (which evolved into "POLK" in some cases)- AYRE 1647 McCARRE (CARRE?? which I share close Ydna with??) - DICK March 1653 McKERRELL - McCLEMONT (shortened to CLEMENT later of which we also have intermarried into one of our Ydna MOODY families of Nor. Ireland) - Aug. 1642 McCLEMENT-McREINKINE (shortened to RANKIN??) Aug. 1646 McRENKINE - KENNEDY 1650 BIGHAME (A name found in our Ydna MOODY family line in Darlington, SC spelled as BIGHAM) - FULTOUN (Fulton) also found in one or more of our Ydna family trees) - May 1663 BIGHOME (sic? Bigham?) - McCAULL (sic? Ireland, I thought it might be important to add them here). This particular marriage was of a Hugh CRAWFORD and Margaret DOAK) DOAK - DOAK 1769 DOOK (sic? Doak or Duke?) - DICK 1706 DOOK - SINCLAIR - 1718 DOOK - SINCLAIR - Apr. 1732 DOAK-DRENNAN 1779 (important to me because when I hired the Nor. Ireland group to do the MOODY/Moodie/Mudie research for me in 2006, the name of DRENNAN popped up associated with the Moody's of Co. L'derry so thought this might also be important) DRAINEN (sic -Drennan) - KENNEDIE July 1655 DRENAN - RAMSAY Apr. 1642 DOAK - WILSON 1778 DONALD-McCAUL 1698 DONALD-McMURTRIE- 1699 DONALD - BONE 1774 DONALD- MITCHELL 1653 DONNALD - ANDERSONE - 1669 DONALD-HUTCHISON- 1802 ALISON- DICK 1775 FERGUSONE - MCKERGOR (a misspelling of McGREGOR?) 1643 GARDINER-HUNTER - 1645 HAMILTON - McMURTRIE 1695 HAMILTON-STEWART 1686 HANNAH-HASSELL 1739 HOGG-HUNTER - 1814 OGG (sic? Helen HUNTER - Dec. 1789 McQUATTIE-MARTINE 1699 McRAINKIN-SINCLARE 1660 McRAINKIN - WASONE (sic Watson?) 1672 McRANKINE - WASON 1687 MEIN (pronounced as MEAN...a name which married into my family tree in Maine and also into the Ydna family of one our MOODY's of NC, TN, MS etc.) - MITCHELL 1705 Thomas MEANE- Jonet FULTOUN - Dec. 1666 (still in Kirkmichael, Ayr, Scotland)...I posted his name because the MEANS Massacre which took place in Maine that my family married into...the main character of that line was also a Thomas MEANS. Thomas PATOUN - Issobell STEUART m. June 1655 (the Patoun/Patton/Patten various spellings are found in The Moodie Book linked to the early Moodie's and they are a sept of the Stewart clan so wanted to show this one as well since they might have been some of the folks who removed from the Western parts of Scotland to the eastern side or vice versa). These are all Sourced from the Parish Registers of Kirkmichael 1636-1855 - Church of Scotland parish church of Kirkmichael, Ayrshire. *************************************** This was just some of the names found amongst our Ydna family trees. As you can see from these, in both locations were found several of the names our McQUISTON's and MOODY's intermarried with from the eastern shores of Scotland to the western shores of Scotland and over to Nor. Ireland and then on to Nor. America. I wanted to show these names from their earliest dates in Scotland as I believe some of These very folks are our Earliest (on record) ancestors.
