Hi Joyce,
That's Very interesting that your Moody family line may also have a JACKSON connection as well. We know we do via well documented genealogy and history and we know we link to these other Moody's via Ydna. Our Ydna line of Moody's are those shaded in the "tan" section as I call it on our FTDNA Moody Surname Project webpage.
Arthur Moody's does not match to us as he is of the HaploType "E" and we are all "I1-N's" of a (Norse/Celtic) branch.

Another VERY Early MOODY (MOODIE/Mudie) line I have been tracking for years is that of a David MUDIE (found spelled both ways in Scotland - Mudie/Moodie), of Perth Amboy, NJ.
He came to America in 1684/85 with sons David (the elder of the two I do believe) and JAMES...which has always been of keen interest to me because that was my 5th grt. grandfather's name who has been my Solid Brick Wall for years. I simply cannot get any more details about him from Anywhere due to the overwhelming name use of "James Moody" all born around the same time as mine from SC to CAN and all points in between...as well as those over in Scotland and Nor. Ireland.

My James could have come from anywhere, but so far, our lines have Not matched up to any of the MOODY lineages claiming links back to England. They have all, so far as I know, been of an "R1b" HaploType (ydna-wise). So we do not match to any of them thus far.

However, as I explained to Arthur, we have had Cross-Over double linked marriages between our families. I recently posted that info on this board. So our two Moody lines would be crossed and some of the Descendants from that marriage would Share Both Sets of MOODY family relationships, making sorting out some of the latter lines quite difficult in some cases.

The Early James MOODY I just spoke of from the Montrose/Aberdeen area of Scotland who came to New Jersey, I don't know what happened to him. Perhaps, and this is just a Speculation...but Perhaps he came further South and it is his descendants that were part of the VA and Duplin, Wayne or Johnston Co., NC MOODY's including your Kirby MOODY.
I do know that DAvid MUDIE, Sr. names his sons David and James in his Will along with others and that was in the late 1600's, so they were still living at that time.

If David, Sr's son James married and had sons also named James, then perhaps James had a son named Kirby who was named for his wife's Surname. If a James Moodie/Mudie/Moody married a KIRBY wife, then it would seem fitting that she would name a son Kirby MOODY. Again, this is all just speculation on my part.
However, it could also explain some of the Richard KIRBY activity with the son named Moody KIRBY born around the same time as your Kirby MOODY or so it appears from Richard's deed mentions and giving the fact that he left lands to his son whom I am guessing would have been age 21 by that time (1740's and after), in VA.

There may be a link here and there may be nothing at all.
I can't find good solid documentation anywhere to lend further assistance with these lines so far. I continue to search and hopefully one day someone will have the answers we seek. Or perhaps Ydna will be our only hope for finding the truth. If Arthur's ydna didn't have an Oooops somewhere on the Female side (relations with a Non-Moody male which would have completely thrown his Ydna results out of whack from other Moody's...but I think Arthur does have a match to another Moody...I wonder if its anyone of his own family though??), anyway, we'll keep searching and maybe just maybe we'll find our answers yet.

Take care, and if I ever find anything further regarding the Jacksons and Moody's I will come back here to post it as I typically do.
Good Luck to you in your own research and do let us know if you find anything further about this Kirby MOODY line.
OH, and one last thing before I close...I share fairly close Ydna results with the GENTRY family of VA. If you have any of them in your line, we may have a case of the cross-linked Moody's as I've mentioned above and that really wreaks havoc when trying to decipher out the lineage lines between us.
Thanks again for your info.
