Moodys of Caldwell County, NC

Let me say that I am very confused about the Moodys, because there seem to be so many of them with similar names. My g-g-g-grandfather was Thomas L. Moody, born in Virginia, but he doesn't seem to be the one who married into the McCuiston line. I don't know his wife's name. He had 6 or 7 children, to wit, Thomas, William B., Robert H., Marcus D. L., Rebecca, Frances, and possibly Nelson. They lived in Caldwell County, North Carolina in the early to mid-19th Century. Some went West to Kansas, in particular, Robert who married Bathsheba Chambers and had 17 children. William, my g-g granfather had 3 girls with Martha Ann Barber before he died. She remarried Smith Kirby. They remained in North Carolina. I believe two of William's siblings (the girls?) married Barbers as well, siblings of Martha.

Does any of this ring a bell for anyone? Does anyone know any more about this Thomas L. or his wife?
