NELLIE A. MONTGOMERY was born Bet. 1872 - 1874 in Iowa. She married WILLIAM CLINTON SPAHR 27 May 1892 in Cheyenne, Laramie County, Wyoming, son of JOHN SPAHR and EXPERIENCE HILDRETH. He was born 14 September 1854 in Portland, Jay County, Indiana, and died 11 February 1928 in Excelsior Springs, Clay County, Missouri.
Notes for NELLIE A. MONTGOMERY:
According to their Marriage License, Nellie was 20 years old at the time of marriage. The wedding took place at the residence of John Montgomery, with John M. Montgomery and Mrs. Melton Montgomery as witnesses. [Was John Montgomery her father?]
At the time of the 1900 Census [dated 11 June 1900], Nellie and her daughter Vida were living in the household of James W. Clatterbuck in the 4th Precinct, Weld County, Colorado. The census shows Nellie was born in December 1874 in Iowa, and it lists her marital status as widowed. It also shows her father was born in Pennsylvania, and her mother was born in Iowa.
The 1900 Census [dated 09 June 1900] also shows William and his son Onno [both listed by their middle initial before their given names] are living in Gabe Rock Precinct, Banner County, Nebraska. William's marital status also shows him to be widowed. It would appear evident that William and Nellie were already in the process of getting a divorce at the time.
Supposedly, Nellie died in Colorado, but some claim she died in Nebraska. In any case, the 1900 census is the last record I have found on Nellie. Either she was deceased or she remarried before the 1910 Census.
