Mike, It is possible that Alexander Montgomery and John & Esther were related. I have not discounted that possibility, knowing that extended family groups and friends tended to emigrate to the colonies and then clustered together. A Montgomery descended from Alexander could have the DNA test that would show if there was a connection. However, there were two creeks of similar name -Moffatt's Creek in the Borden / Beverley Tract, and the Moffett Creek near Stribling Springs in Augusta County - the latter is where Robert Montgomery and his son Alexander lived. I only just in the past two days have solidified which creek it was. If John & Esther lived near the second creek of that name, then it increases the likelihood of some connection to Robert and Robert's son Alexander. Robert showed up in Augusta Co. in 1763 - the French & Indian War / Seven Years War had just ended and people were moving back to the frontiers. I have a feeling Robert may have been a much later immigrant. We have no idea who his parents were, or where he came from - whether he was from Scotland, Ulster, PA, or someplace else has yet to be discovered. I believe John and Esther were much earlier immigrants, if memory serves. The goal now would be to find a DNA candidate among Alexander Montgomery's Montgomery-surnamed male descendants. That would help further unravel the ancestral connections. Bill Notify Administrator about this message?
