Grahovac family name
Posted by: Paul Grahovac (ID *****1917) Date: December 31, 2005 at 18:36:03

I am researching the name Grahovac. My father Pavao was from Sinac and Ramljani in Lika Croatia. Roman Catholic Church records in Ramljani show my relatives active in that church back to the earliest records in 1822. The church was built in 1730. The Lika census of 1712 shows one Grahovac family in Lika, and they were Orthodox at that time. One Grahovac in Serbia has told me Grahovac people migrated from Montenegro West to Croatia and Slovenia and then East to Serbia. Blagoje Grahovac, former Commander of the Yugoslav Air Force and now Military Advisor to the President of Montenegro, tells me all Grahovac people are related and they all are Montenegrin. Any comments on the name or on related migrations and religion changes would be appreciated.
