ON PAGE 76 PEIRRE IS LISTED AS A COFFEE GROWER IN GRAND VICENT, JÉRÉMIE SECTION WHO OWNED 20 SLAVES. ON PAGE 219, HE IS SAID TO HAVE CAUSED QUITE A STIR IN 1806 IN NEW ORLEANS BY DISPLAYING A BUST OF NAPOLEON SCULPTED BY A FRIEND FROM JÉRÉMIE, CHARLES DE BALIGANT D'HEILLECOURT. PIERRE WAS THE FIRST MONTEGUT TO ARRIVE IN AMERICA, THEN FRENCH LOUISIANA. HE WAS APPOINTED SHERIFF OF ST.JTB PARISH IN 1820 AND SERVED UNTIL 1824.
