My name is Ian. I am a Monty from my father's side.
My father is Gordon MacPherson whose father was John MacPherson and mother was Muriel Kirkpatrick, both deceased.
Muriel's father was Edward Monty Kirkpatrick and her mother was Catherine Spencer.
Edward Monty Kirkpatrick's father was John Kirkpatrick and his mother was Ella Monty Kirkpatrick Hay.
Ella Monty Kirkpatrick Hay's father was Edward Lafayette Monty and her mother was Joyce "Jicey" Murphy Monty.
Jicey Murphy Monty's father was Edward Murphy, a captain on the Erie Canal, and her mother was Katie Overacker,a well educated woman of the major canal town, Cohoes, New York.
Edward Lafayette Monty's father was Joseph Monty,a veteran of the American revolution, and his mother was Marie Lafayette.
Joseph Monty's father was Francis Monty (Lieutenant Francis Monty), an officer in the Continental Army (American Revolution). We think that he trained troops under none other than Marquis de Lafayette, but it is not confirmed. Francis knew George Washington and was at times a spy in French Canada for the Americans. Joseph's mother was Marie Josette Bergevin.
Francis Monty was the son of Jean Monty of Gascony, France. Jean was a soldier in the Army of King Louis XV of France. He came into America as King Louis XV's soldier. Jean married into a Quebecois family that can be traced all the way back to the the french explorer, Champlain. It has been confirmed that our family knew him.
Please feel free to email me at email@example.com OR firstname.lastname@example.org for information from other branches of the family, or just information about the Monty ancestry in general. Thank you!
