Catherine Young (shown on some records as "Katherine") married an unknown Mr. Taylor, and then she married second Latane Montague around 1754 (both marriages were apparently in Essex Co., VA). Latane and Catherine (Young) Montague eventually moved to Granville Co., NC. Do happen to know WHEN they left VA (is there a deed record where they purchased land in NC)?
I SUSPECT that the Elizabeth Taylor (born about 1752) who married William Garrett (also born about 1752) of Essex Co., VA MIGHT have been a daughter of the above unknown Mr. Taylor and Catherine Young. One of the sons of this William and Elizabeth (Taylor) Garrett was named John SMITH Garrett (shown as just "SMITH Garrett" on the 1820 Essex Co., VA census), and Catherine Young was a daughter of Henry Young and Rachel SMITH (who was a daughter of Maurice Smith and Elizabeth Bird..this Smith family "traces back" to the Alexander Smith who was in Lancaster/Middlesex Co., VA by at least the 1650s).
Note: Catherine Young had a brother who was named SMITH Young, and there was another/later relative who was named SMITH Bennett.
