Peter Montague was from Boveny Parish alongside the Thames and across from Buckingham Palace. This line goes back several generations at this parish so I do not think there is any way this family could be huguenot from France.

I have not heard of Meindert Doodis being a Huegonot. He was a Dutch ship captain who came to Virginia about 1650, and settled first in Nansemond county. In 1665 he was living in Lancaster county. In 1673 the general assembly naturalized Minor Doodes and his son Doodes Minor. His will, dated December 13, 1677, was proved in Lancaster county. It is sealed with the wax impression of a ship. He was ancestor of the Minor family of Spottsylvania County.

Peter Montague and Mindoort Doodes (Doodes Minor) had known each other in Nansemond Co, VA as early as 1653 and came to the Rappahannock together in 1656.
