Estelle,

Sorry to say that I did not have anything on the Gordon group that you speak of. I do not know Samuel Gordon's ancestors for sure but the following website may be useful in providing a little info on this family.

http://www.kenmore.org/gordon_family/gordon_history.html

I believe he had substantial land holdings during his time and Basil Gordon and Lelia Sinclair Montague lived in one of the Manor homes called "Wakefield Manor" it is said to be located near the foot of the Blueridge... My guess in in Fauquier Co., VA.

I would not be at all surprised if you Gordon family may be in some way related. Your Montague line and mine intersect at Thomas Montague who married Penelopy Cheney Warwick.

My line goes through Thomas's 1st wife Grace Nicholson and there son Peter Montague. Then to his daughter Elizabeth Montague who married James Daniel and so on.

Best of luck in your quest and I will let you know if I come across anything useful in the future. Keep me posted if you find what you are looking for.

Thanks Again,
Jason
