My Montague / Gordon research is limited to two people: Dr. Thadeus Claybrook Montague b. 10 JAN 1838 - d ? and his wife, Celestine Louise Gordon b. 7 AUG 1842 - d. 28 MAY 1876. His parents were: Edmund Healy Montague and Amanda (Claybrook) Montague. Her parents were: William Richards and Mary A.M. Gordon. I am looking for more on William Richards Gordon. They had a son, William C. Gordon. I have read the book titled "They Called Stafford Home" by Jerrilynn Eby. In her book is a chapter about Rosedale -- the farm once owned by the Gordon & Montague families. My correspondence with the author did not reveal any more than what is in the book -- she is an historian, not a genealogist. Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your taking time to include descendants of Samuel Gordon. This could be a missing link, but I don't know that yet. The 1900 census (Rock Hill, Stafford County) shows a Celestine M. Gordon, age 16, living with Emma F., 41 and Robert Gordon, 23. The 1880 Henrico county census has a William Gordon, age 40, physician, living with Emma, age 21 and children Lindell, 4; Robert, 1 and Lilia Montague, 19 neive. The Robert and Emma in both censuses appear to be the same people. If you have anything on William Richards Gordon or Mary A. M. Gordon, I would appreciate it. Also, who is the father of the Samuel Gordon you listed in your message. Estelle in Cumming, GA Notify Administrator about this message?
