Movies like The Kingdom Of Heaven and The DaVinci Code have made many more aware of the dark side of genealogy. The below note, sent to my son Alan today, will be of interest to many visitors to this forum:

Thanks for letting me know you and Lee are safely back in California. God was good in letting you and Jim be with your mother when she died, and that you were able to work with Rob Blue in settling her affairs.
It is not without reason that Jim’s middle name and the name of Daddy Blue was Leon. The lion is the symbol of Judah. The Blues were great Sephardic cartographers. For more on this see Blaeu’s The Grand Atlas Of The 17th Century World. Be mindful in this context that your great grandmother Howell Sims was born a Devereaux, and that my ancestor Robert Slaughter was the first English governor of New York, after its takeover from the Sepahrdic Dutch, to whom it was known as New Amsterdam.
Even though I have resolved to say little more about our ancestries, we are so burdened with them that I feel obliged to share a few more notes. We are documented as descendants of Peter Montague of Virginia, who was descended from Pedro De Montague, 12th Grand Master of The Templars. The above internet article shows how the Capetian House of Bourgogne was the origin of the “seigneurs de Montagu” and the kings of Portugal. Portugal was carved from the fat haunch of Spain, to accommodate rich and powerful Jews who were willing to accept Jesus as The Messiah. To sweeten the deal, the Pope threw in Brazil.

The Soundex300 surname list is truly one with which to conjure. It is interesting that Pitt is a documented synonym of Pate. Pitt is the name of the great English royal diamond that I suspect is that shown in the turban of Flavius Josephus. Pitts and Penns were the most powerful and wealthy families in colonial Pennsylvania. Penn is Welsh for head. Pate is old English for head. It all goes way back. It explains the crushing of the Siouan Corees by the Iroquoian Tuscaroras.
