Searching for letters, journals, and other personal and public documents referencing the life and military service of J. Frank Monroe. Born in Massachusetts, he lived in Torrington, Connecticut, when he was drafted in 1864. He enlisted under the alias Charles Wallack, and served as a private in Company B of the First Connecticut Heavy Artillery. He survived the war, and later worked as a bookkeeper in Providence, Rhode Island. His wife was named Maggie.

Any and all help appreciated.
