I can't believe I have found this post. I'm sorry, I have no information to give you, however I have been looking for information on Hugh Monroe, Rising Wolf, for years. It is suggested that I am related to him through my great grandmother, Stella Fox, of Blackfeet orgins. However we have never found the link. If you have any information on Hugh Monroe's wife, or children, it would be much appriciated.
There are books that include Hugh Monroe in their stories, some written by James Willard Schultz. There is also a biography of Hugh Monroe, titled Rising Wolf, written by the same man. In the book, which my father has, there is little mention of Hugh's parents, other than his father was a captain in the English Army, and his mother the daughter of a noble french famly, who owned a mansion in Montreal and a estate on Three Rivers. There is also a very brief mention of his grandfather de La Rouche.
