A biography of John Monroe is included in "Progressive Men of the State of Montana". Parents: Hugh Monroe and a Piegan Indian woman. Hugh Monroe died in 1892, at the age of 108 years. In 1885, John and his family settled on a ranch on the Blackfoot Reservation, six miles from Browning, MT.
