There have been quite a few Moningers born, raised, and buried in Chicago. My father's name was Edward George Moninger, born February 9, 1915. His father was Edward Moninger, married Mae Ryan and had 3 sons and 1 daughter. He died in 1919. My father's grandfather was Valentine Moninger, married to Catherine Schraud,had quite a few children, and died in 1919. He was from Gersheim, Germany with connections to the Moningers in Karlsrhue. There is a Moninger monument in a Gersheim cemetery. There are also Moninger mouments in Chicago cemeteries. There was a second Moninger family that also settled in Chicago that appear to have been cousins. *Coincidentally--or not--there is very sizable Moninger family located in Washington, PA that have very similar names and birthdates to my family's (especially in the mid 1800's to early 1900's).
