I have managed to answer this question finally. Mary was Mary Ward who was bapt in Mapledurham 12 March 1780. She married George 13th March 1803 at Sonning and her eldest son Thomas was baptised 5 June 1803 if any of you are interested. This marriage is completely at odds with the IGI listing which places their marriage 1812 in Compton. No record of this exists in Compton parish registers
