Need to know.
Lesley Moneypenny 5/11/04
I have in my tree a Samuel Moneypenny born July 21, 1763, who has siblings Phillis Mar 9 1769, Phillis Jan 31, 1773 (obviously the first one died,) Elizabeth born Mar 25, 1775 and John born Dec 27, 1779.All born in Falmouth.I saw on another site that he was listed as being born in January so I don't know if this is the same John...it's worth considering. There is also a John Moneypenny born within a few years of 1779 who is in a Middlesex hospital in 1841, so he could have been ill for a few years before dying...do you know his children's names? It would help connect this man or disprove him.
Our John Moneypenny's info was from Familysearch.com...so the info provided isn't set in stone but a jumping off point, but I use the info until I can prove it, and have gotten pretty far back using marriage certs from FreeBMD but they only go back to 1837...so they won't help in this instance.
But if there is a possiblity that my John Moneypenny is yours then know that he is the son of Samuel Moneypenny born about 1740 (apparently an only child) and of Elizabeth Williams. They were married 1762.Samuel is the son of John Moneypenny and Phillis Williams who were married about 1738.
In 1841-
John Moneypenny born 1776 (this could be him) is at the Royal hospital in 1841 in Kensington, Middlesex Eng.Listed as a pentioner Private.
I researched all Moneypenny's in 1851 there is a Jane Moneypenny in Middlesex, shoreditch area that is a widow 47 Laundress with children Jane 21 William 17, Charles 9 and granddaughter Jane Dodd 2.The only other woman that is the head of the house is my ancestor Sarah Francis-Moneypenny who's still married to Samuel Moneypenny although he's not in the household at the time of the census.Could John's wife be Jane?
let me know if this helps...
