Bill, Do you know that Orra E. Monnett, author of the "Monnett Family Genealogy", lived out most of his adult life in LA? His notes are in the archives at the Los Angeles Public Library and they have two copies of the 1911 edition of the "Monnett Family Genealogy" as well as some of his other published works. Orra indicates that the family name in France was spelled Monet, the double letters were added in North America. And, yes, he indicates we are related to the artist, Claude Monet: very distant cousins. blf
