According to Orra E. Monnette who wrote the Monnet Family Genealogy, 1911, there are at least 17 differnt spellings ranging from MONET to MONEY, which, by the way was the surname of the Roman Goddess Juno who was the patroness of banking. O.E.M. states (p.959) that four brothers, sons of Pierre and Catharine (Pillot) Monnet originally from Poitou, France, came to the new world around 1700. Isaac b.cir.1670; Robert; Pierre (Peter) bapt. 25 Nov 1683; and James. The brothers settled as follows: Isaac Monnet, Calvert Co., Maryland to Ohio (my line); Pierre Manee, Staten Island; Robert Money, Cecil Co. Maryland; James Monat of Anne Arundel Co. Maryland Hope this helps. Barbara L. Frye
