Thank You for info..No it was Eliphlit that the story of adoption was about,I have a letter from one of his nephews telling the story of Eliphlit comming to Ft.Smith & being adopted by James & wife Julia (Moncrief) Coleman,after the death of his parents in Georgia.I have Eliphlit's death cert and only James was listed NO Mother,Julia died in 1864 and buried Skulyville cemetary..I also have a copies of pages from a lovely lady who grew up with Eliphlit
she tells a very sad story of a quiet young boy & a man who would never make Father of the year!!! Diana
