Gray Swan Moir Scotland England Canada

I would like to know more of my great grandfather's origins - Thomas Andrew Gray Swan Moir
He left Scotland with a couple of his brothers and stopped in Lancashire where he married and settled with Eliza Ann Hanson in 1886. There appears to have been some issues over a new-stepmother back in Scotland but I know nothing further about the Moir history.
Thomas and Eliza had several children in/near Wallasey, Cheshire - and most moved to Quebec, Canada from Southport in the early 1900's.
Hopefully someone can fill in the Gray Swan Moir connection. Carol
