Janet N. Mohr Obit
HUDSON — Janet N. Mohr, age 79, of Hudson passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo.
Janet was born on Sept. 21, 1928, in Pittsford, Mich., the daughter of Foy and Emma (Crampton) Sheriff. She married Morris Russell on July 27, 1946, in Angola, Ind. He preceded her in death. She was married in 1971 to Blair Mohr, and later divorced. Janet was the store manager for the former Thriftway in downtown Hudson. She was the first woman president of the Hudson Chamber of Commerce. Janet was very active in political fundraising and was nominated to the No. 1 Republican Club by Congressman Nick Smith. She enjoyed working outdoors, especially in her flower garden. Janet was an avid dancer, she would travel to Adrian and Toledo to go dances with her best friend, Mary Clements.
Janet is survived by her three children, Linda (Phil) Hartley of Hudson, Carol Raker of Bryan, Ohio, and Larry (Sharon) Russell of Pioneer, Ohio; four grandchildren, Gary (Shannon) Barbee and Michael (Amy) Barbee, all of Bryan, Melissa (Steven) Gier of Hudson and Father Matthew Hartley of Denver, Colo.; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lavina (Bill) Hendrix of Hillsdale, Mary Jane (Alger) Fowler of Jonesville and Ella Mae (Fred) Fowler of Hudson, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Chuck and Neil Sheriff.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson with the Rev. Mark Johnston officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, March 7, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
