I have been doing Genealogy for 33+ years!!And I've published several Genealogies of considerable length!Intend publishing the MANNY, MOHNEY quite soon! As prolific as they all were it will be an Encyclopedia!!Therefore, couldn't help but note your Query, in which I too have brought to many folks attention, via mail, as I haven't Internet in my home.
Regarding Burgert's book on "18th Century Emigrants from the Northern Alsace" of which I was one who pre-purchased it, I think the day it came off the press!!It's great!!!!
If you don't have one, buy one, a must for all Genealogists!! MANY'S, and related lines are in it so not a waiste of your $$!! (We can't all be wrong!!)

The Baptism date on Johann "Adam" MANI/ MANY, on 30 Dec. 1724. I have photostatic copies of the Actual Baptism!! [paid several $$Hundred to get proof!! I have every entry from Bas-Rhin on our lines!!]Usually the child was baptized as soon as possible after born.It was an urgent matter to the folks in those days, for they believed the child had to be baptized or else it would not see Heaven!Taking this from the Biblical passage - paraphrasing (I don't have a Bible with me!) But words to effect of:"except a man be born of water & of the Spirit, you can not see the Kingdom of God"[ However, read II Samuel about David, and his adultrious affair,in the Bible's, that childdied! Yes, all children are innocent and go to Heaven!] Hence, it mattered little to the Parents, if it theywere Lutheran, or Reformed, in faith! Just so it was a Pastor!!! Some traveled for miles to have a child Baptized in freezing weather!Often you see in Records (look at Burgert's works & other Baptism records) under Lutheran Baptism's, i.e. "of the Reformed Faith" or the opposite, "of the Lutheran faith" if in the opposite Church of their faith!

In winter only heating one building for 2 services, i.e. Lutheran at 9:00 AM, Reformed at 10:30AM, just for example here on the times!

Bethel Evangelical Lutheran & German Reformed Church, now United Church of Christ Cemetery, located along Rte. 611, in the village of Stone Church, PA.A host of our other ancestors lie buried here too!! It's a beautiful area if none of you have never been there!!Take vacation time and go!!(Northampton County - north of Easton!) Gravestones quite readable, when I was last there! No maiden name is on her stone!! If they had, it'd settle the "mystery" =Only birth & death! As you state, Christina, b. 7 May 1724, how can she possibly be a d/o Jacob MANY, Sr. & Wife??I do not have my ancestral charts with me at present time, but that date seems correct to me from memory.I'll double check it when I get home!I too have Johann Frantz HILGERT'S family data!

(thousands of miles apart To be recorded wrong, and by different people and years later, upon her death!! Am I not correct in this thinking??

Am I not correct in this thinking??There's no way, a woman can have a baby in May and another child in probably November since he was baptized on 3 December! Unless premature, and in those days no Hospitals to keep it alive if it were. She could be a MANNY, but, if so, not Jacob's daughter! There was a Nicholas in the same church, so possibly his daughter!

See John Humphrey's book on Baptisms & Procedures of different faiths! He's from D. C. Also, in a period of time the Parents chose who the child was to marry!! You didn't "fall in love" they told you who you'd marry! How'd you like that kids?? Hugh!! Today kids would say "Gross!!" or "Oooh, not him he's ugly, has pimples!" or "not her, she has 'buck teeth!" (ha! ha!)

Yes, they married!!The solutions my "apparent cousins" is possibly, not alone Baptismal Sponsors!! It's the Deeds!! I still think the folks they sold land too are relatives!! Especially,Adam, born 1750's d. 1818, now Hawthorn, PA. See my responses to Odenwalder, etc.And I'm even wondering = who's those three kids of Jost's??

"Right name, wrong pew in the Church!"

"Right name, wrong pew in the Church!"Now, if you really want to have some fun ask me about a certain first cousin to my Grandma who was a born MOHNEY!!Mercy!! Mercy!! Her face would have been blood red -had she known!! She wouldn't show any part of her body except "hands & face, and portion of legs from a very lenthy dress!"Hint:oh, he had his kids alright, but not to "one" woman!! Mercy!! Mercy!!He didn't need Viagra either!!It's all in my future Book!!A "soap opera" - I could get rich selling you all this story!! (ha! ha!)
Yea, I have a wierd 'sense of humor' - I laugh about everything!!You see, they were human too - not all "Saints!"
