Checking Church records be advised the MOHNEY'S in Armstrong & Clarion Co. are not always found in the same Congregation records!!
The "faith" mattered little of the "Minister" as long as the infant was Baptized...espcially if the child was sickly, etc. as they believed that without baptism they couldn't make it to Heaven. However, Biblical study reveals "otherwise" [David's son to Bathsheba to anyone disagreeing read II Samuel !!!!! ]
Also "many" of you are taking the "translations" of some records as 100% Gospel and they are "full" of errors...esp. the translations of Trinity at Alcola, PA. and also Zion Lutheran, Shannondale, PA.
I think the translator needed glasses!!!!
Has anyone "ever" found Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Records, across the Bridge on Armstrong Co. side from present day Hawthorn, Clarion Co. PA???? They "broke" off from "Trinity" at Alcola, PA. and started a Church there... many forget this!! Those records could "solve" many a mystery!!!!
Also the Evangelical Association Churches started circa 1850's in the area... many joined with that Church. Some of these records are "lost" or thrown away!! Has anyone ever found any???? This congregation split too when Bishop Escher and Bishop Dubbs got in a "dispute" and the one started publishing "nasty things" about the other in the "Church paper!" Thus the church "split" and many of the old churches were torn down!! Records???? Where are they????
