Will of Johannes Moone/Mohn/Moon
Yesterday I reviewed the will of Johannes/John Moon and noticed a name mentioned in the will that probably does not mean anything but thought I'd mention it.
A George Bernhard was one of the appraisers of John Moon's property. It just struck me kind of odd that many are looking for a George Bernhart Moon/Mohn and the name partially shows up here. The problem is that all other names in the will include last names, even the other Moons, such as Ludwick Moone and Werner Moone.Seeing that name just makes me curious as to whether anyone has researched that name yet?
Also, it is important to note that in the will itself, it spells the Moon name differently in different parts of the will.Such as Ludwig Moone, Werner Moone and John Moone. However, at the will reading, it refers to the deceased as Johannes Mohn! The inventory of goods refers to the deceased as John Moon.
I also noted in the inventory of goods there appears to be another faint letter after Werner and before Moone and it makes me wonder if he had a middle name?
Another name that shows up in this will is Samuel Weiser.Werner bought land from a Conrad Weiser in Berks County.A Frederick Weiser was a pastor in Frederick County and documented Abraham's presence at the Apples Lutheran (?) Church in the early 1790s.
Anyway, I'm trying different angles now to try to find families in the same areas at the same time.Such as William Currens (guardian of John and George Moon, sons of Abraham and Sophia Six), Dixons, Catherine Terry or Ferry (wife of John Moon who was born in Va. and died in Illinois), Charles Gordon who bought land on October 27, 1768 that was next to Thomas Ellis, Robert Scott, David Millar, Jacob Moon and Goerge W. Fairfax), Hannah Kirk (wife of George Moon), Harveys, Hardestys etc., just to name a few.
If you look on Genforum under some of the names above, I've already made posts to try to track down families who also had Moon relatives. If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts on where else to look, let me know. Some time this year I hope to get back to Frederick County Maryland to do some more research.
Thanks,
Mike Moon
