I may not be much help to you. My focus is on the Eaton family of Long Is. In the 1870 NY Suff Co. Huntington census(p.491) I find two of my Eatons in the HH of Frederick and Jeanette Modell. This causes me to wonder if Jeanette was an Eaton. Here is the transcript;
300-329 Modell,Frederick 39 farm $1200 all b.NY

Eaton, William B. 27 retail merchant
