Mote/Mode are they ever interchanges?

I have a Silas Mote who was supposedly born in SC after family came from NC, in the 1770's. I can not match him with any Mote, Moates, Motes, Mouad or any other family. He settled in Warren Co GA in the very early 1800's. Do any of you Mode researchers have a stray Silas you misplaced?

His wifes name was Elizabeth but we have no last name. They named a son Wells, one Anderson and another Randolph so we suspect she might have been of one of those families
