Still researching this Mock family who starts out in Brier Patch, Bulloch County, Georgia. 1870 shows James M. and Sophronia E. [Wise] Mock with son Charles and daughter Lavenia - can't find them in 1880 but in 1890-91 James M. and Charles are in Savannah directory at same address as James L. Mock. Charles and James L. are clerks and James M. is a policeman. Sometime after 1891 James L. went to Washinton DC where he was private secretary under the Attorney General until 1898 when he entered the 1st Washington DC Infantry. He married to Albertina Scott and had two children James Lawrence born 1896 and Bertine in 1902. Moved to New York where he was executive clerk under Commissioner Theodore Bingham. Left New York and went back to Georgia where he died in 1909. His mother and brother Charles are on the 1920 census in Savannah but his mother Sophronia apparently went to Denver [possibly with other Mock family from Savannah] by 1927 where she filed pension app for her son. Anyone have any information on this family? Thanks Joanne Notify Administrator about this message?
