I'm descended from a Samuel Moberly, born ca 1775 possibly in Kentucky but I've seen other researchers putting his place of birth in North Carolina.
A family member of mine thinks he may be the son of John Moberly, born ca 1755 in Virginia or Kentucky, and Nancy Moberly. I think Samuel may actually be John's brother or half-brother and his father may be a Benjamin Moberly, but I have no way to confirm this.
Has anyone done any research on this line of the family?
Some more details about Samuel:
Wife: Anne/Anny Tudor
Children: William, John, Thomas, Squire, Daniel, Jacob, Edward, Benjamin, Mary, Tabitha.
I'm also not sure William is Samuel's son; I definitely don't think Anne Tudor is William's mother, since my family's research indicates he was born several years prior to their marriage and every other child was born after their marriage. Maybe Samuel had a wife before Anne, but I've found no record of her. I suppose it's entirely possible William was born out of wedlock, but isn't that pretty unusual for the time?
