Marita, William J Moberly had a brother, Benjamin N, born abt. 1817, Madison Co., Ky. I assumed that he was the same Benjamin Newton Moberly who married Mary Jane Simpson. In 1860 they lived near William J. in Danville, Hendricks Co., Ind. (Roll 265, p. 524). Benjamin was 43, Mary, 39, and they had seven children. I don't have land records, but I have the will of father John Moberly that lists tracts of land in Hendricks he left to William J. and Benjamin N. when he died in 1843.However, a Moberly website on rootsweb.com says that Benjamin Newton was the son of Benjamin A. Moberly, who was the brother of John Moberly. They are all from the same family, children of Benjamin Moberly and Lavinia (Meador) Meadows. Bottom line, I am not positive if William J. and Benjamin Newton were brothers or cousins. Also, Benjamin moved to Clay Co., Missouri, and William J moved to Jackson Co, Mo., and may have been in Clay Co. first. This is another reason I believed that were brothers.
