I just found it. From a dictionary of Old English:

Mobley, Moberly: One who came from Mobberley, Cheshire, England. The village itself was given the name Moberley, which means "a glade with an assembly mound." The suffix, "-ley" , means either "meadow," or "a clearing in the woods" (such as a glade.) Mobe meant "mound of earth, where people assembled."

So, if your name was Moberly, Moberley, or Mobley, it meant you came from the village of Mobberley.
