Sue:

Virginia Lawson Long is familiar with the great work of Charlotte Austin in sorting the Moores of Wright County. The story is not easy to tell, particularly for the children of Rutha Moore, as at least two marriages occurred among first cousins, including Robert and Sarah Elizabeth.

Except for John, all of Rutha's children were in Laclede Co., MO by 1850. John married Elizabeth Gullion/Gulliam, 22 Dec 1842, Marshall Co., AL. They came to Laclede County about 1855. Elizabeth died in the early 1860s, as did Alfred Newton Moore, younger brother of John and first husband of Allie Wilson. John then married Allie, 16 Feb 1865. Allie died 10 Feb 1915, and John 25 March 1891.

Hope this is enough for starters. While I go through my files further, you might check RootsWeb Global Search and search for Elizabeth GULLION born 1827. You should see two files submitted by B. G. Piper, bgozbooks@aol.com. At least one of these provides data for three generations of Gullions before Elizabeth. Searching for John Moore, born 1823, TN will lead to a file submitted by Ronald Higginbothamm which traces descent from John Moore and Elizabeth GULLIAM through their son Robert,

Allie's given name was spelled Aleatha in her 1915 obituary. However, my grandmother (granddaughter of Alfred and Allie) spelled her own name Aletha.

Charles
