Need advise on research in Wayne Co.

I'm planning a trip to Wayne Co. in September to research the death of my great grandfather, Alexander Malcolm, on 1 January 1887. He left Scotland to work at a granite quarry in Wayne Co. He resided in a boarding house at Granite Bend.

On New Year's Eve, he apparently fell down the stairs at the boarding house and was killed and he was buried in Mile Cemetery.

I would like to visit Mile Cemetery. Does anyone know where it is?
Also, was there an area newspaper in 1887 and, if so, where would I go to look up any deaths?
Does the Wayne Co. Historical Society have a research room or should I look for a public library in the county?

Thanks so much for any advise.
