I need some help with this William Williams family found in Liberty Twp. c.1840-1868. In the 1850 census they are enumerated like this:

708 William Williams 58 M 500 farmer TENN
Sarah Williams 51 F NC
709 Jesse Williams 27 M ILL
Mary J. Williams 23 F ILL
Sarah M 5 F MO
John J. 2 M MO

In 1860 William and Sarah have thier grandchildren living with them:

1170 Wm Williams 76 M Miner 600/300 VA
Sarah Williams 52 F NC
Sarah Williams 12 F MO
John Williams 10 M MO

William's wife, Sarah, died October 6, 1867 and is burried in the Rabbit Hollow Cemetery. She must have been married before, she has one known child, Mary Eliza b. 1818 in IL. Mary Eliza was married perhaps first to Sidney Manning(?) in 1837, then Samuel Sundmacher in 1843, finally she was the second wife of Peter B. Lyons in 1847. Who was Sarah's first husband??

William Williams died October 1868. His will:

THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF WILLIAM WILLIAMS

Know all men by these presents that I, William Williams of Liberty Township in the County of Washington and State of Missouri, being now of sound mind and knowing death that sooner or later will overtake us all, and that my preparation for the great change may be the more complete I make this my last will in the fear of God, Amen.

First unto my son Jesse Williams in his natural lifetime I have advanced about the sum of four hundred dollars which sum was all that I ever expect for him or his heirs to receive from my estate.

Second and unto Eliza Lyon the daughter of my late wife Sarah I bequeath the sum of five dollars.

Third and unto Thomas R. Johnson my particular friend I bequeath all my estate, real, personal and mineral consisting of land, cash and whatever may be found after seeing my body decently buried and all the expenses of the same paid out of my effects and all just debts fully paid.

And I appoint said Thomas R. Johnson Executor and fully empower him to carry out the provisions of this my last will here this 28th day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand and Eight Hundred and Sixty Eight.

William Williams

--The Witness page is separate and when presented to the court on November 4th 1868, Levi Tillson and J. B. Johnson swore that they were the original witnesses. The court accepted Thomas R. Johnson as administrator, bonded by Andrew Causey and John Teasdale, the amount of $800.00. No further records.--

(File #1063 in Washington County, MO)

William Williams has only the one known son, John Jesse Williams. I have not found any further information concerning him, however, I know much about his wife and children:

John married Mary Jane Brown 11/16/1843 in Washington Co.
The three children are-
Sarah Margaret Williams, b. 9/1/1845
John Jefferson Williams, b. 5/15/1850
Martha Ann Williams, b. 9/15/1852

Mary Jane (Brown)Williams married Andrew J. Stout 7/13/1855 in Bond County, IL. I do not find any census enumeration for her, her husband, or Martha Ann in 1860.

In 1863 Sarah Margaret Williams m. John William Dugan in Bond County, IL. She died in 1883.

In 1864 Mary Jane (Brown) Williams Stout married a 3rd time, to Robert Duncan in Bond County, IL. He died in 1868.

In 1870 Mary Jane (Brown) Duncan is enumerated in Okaw Twp., Bond County like this:

75 Duncan, Mary J. 32 F Keeping House 3000/1500 KY
Jno W. 19 M Farmer MO
Martha 16 F At home MO
(I realize there are some problems with this entry- could be enumerator error??)

In September of 1870 Martha Ann Williams m. Josiah Munton in Bond County, IL. She died in 1921 and her parents names are on her death certificate, #26625 in Bond County, IL.

In 1873 John Williams m. Sarah Melissa McDonald in Clinton County, IL(nxt door to Bond). He died in 1932 and both his death cert. and obituary give his parents names and list his place of birth as Potosi, MO.

Mary Jane Brown died intestate on April 16, 1876 in Bond County and all three children are named as heirs.

Who are Mary Jane Brown's parents?? What happened to John?? Why would she migrate easterly into Illinois??

Why did William Williams leave his estate to a friend?? Is he somehow related to the Johnsons?? Was Sarah?? Was William married before??

Anyone with Washington Co. resources, any help is greatly appreciated.
