John Palmer, d. 1863, Potosi, Washington co. MO

This is a long shot, but I'm wondering if I can get any help from anyone on this board. I am trying to locate the grave of one of my g-g-g-g-grandfathers, John PALMER. He was born in 1795 in Litchfield CT and died 4 Jan., 1863 in Potosi, Wahsington county, MO. I can't imagine what a 68 year old man would be doing so far away from his wife and family in Potter county, PA. He seems too old to have been a soldier. Does anyone know if there was much fighting during the civil war in Potosi? Is ther a link to the cemeteries there? I would appreciate any help at all. Geof Acker
