I am trying to trace my maternal grandfather's line and I have completely lost any traces of information in Nevada, MO. I'm limited in research capability to what I can find or get online, and I've pretty much run into brick walls everywhere, lol. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me with some information or advice where to look or seek info. My grandfather was John Mitchell Wilber, born 09/04/1892 in Nevada, MO. He was the son of John Wilber and Martha Ann Thomas. Because my grandfather was born in Nevada, they were obviously there at some point, although a year later John and Martha Ann gave birth to another son in Illinois. Prior to that, in the 1880 Federal Census, they lived in Indiana. My question is: did Nevada at that time have a public hospital where my grandfather may have been born and which may still have records? Also, can anyone tell me if Nevada may have been part of the railroad employment surge where many people came from other states to work on the railroads about then? I'm wondering if this may have drawn the family to Nevada. Also, for obtaining copies of birth records, how are MO's records? Do you think it's possible I may be able to obtain a Birth Certificate for my grandfather, even though he was born back in 1892? And finally, does anyone know of any online site that may have some pictures of Nevada circa that time? I'd love to soak up some of the flavor and more history of the area. Thanks in advance :) Notify Administrator about this message?
