John P. Monson (b. ca. 1856) married Mary A. Dover on 3 Jan. 1870 in Sullivan Co., Mo. In the 1900 Census for Weld Co., CO John P. is listed as 43, a farmer; Mary A. b. March 1860; John R., b. Sep. 1878, b. MO; Thomas W., b. Sep. 1880, MO; Bertie E., b. June 1892, CO.
John P. Monson was a son of Hugh T. Monson, b. 15 Nov. 1821, Nicholas Co., KY; he married 1) Julia Ann Brooking on 16 Sep. 1842, in Bourbon Co., KY; he had two sons from this marriage, William B. and Luke H.; he married 2nd Emeline E. Alley, 17 June 1849, in Harrison Co., MO; with Emeline he had: Thomas C., Theodore L., Samuel T., John P., Pilar, Andrew J. and Bell. Hugh T. Monson lived in Nicholas Co., Ky until about 1845; he was in Jackson Co., MO in the 1850 census; he was in Harrison Co., MO from about 1851 through at least 1860; he was in Weld Co., CO in the 1870 census, and back in MO by 1878, when he bought land in Sullivan Co.; he was still in Sullivan Co. in the 1880 census. He died in Kansas City, MO on 18 April, 1906. He is buried in Weston, MO.
I haven't found the parents of Mary Dover, but there was a Dover family in the 1880 census for Sullivan Co., MO:
