James Adams Piper (b. 1868/69) was my gg grandfather. I believe this is him, but I am not completely certain. The mother appears to be Sarah Kinder, and the father was also James Piper, who died about 1869.

I think James Piper is the ten year old listed in the 1880 Texas census for Erath County, living with another couple. The age is approximately right. Also, David Absolum Knox is listed in the same district; James Adams Piper later married Knox's neice, Mary Alice Knox.
