Missouri as a state did not start keeping birth/death records until 1919 although some portions do have some records before that time. Scott County has some death records from the 1880's.

Marriage records for the time period you are searching are available on microfilm from your local Family History Center and of course you could contact Scott County directly for that information. I highly recommend using FHC especially if you aren't sure of the how the name was spelled. You can learn more about your local FHC at

The FHC film for the Scott County Marriage Index 1840-1938 Volumes 1-3 is #925395. The actual copies of the marriage certificates for 1865-1874 is #1994420. The film for Scott County births/deaths 1883-86 is #1006670. The below address is used for ordering marriage records through the county itself.
