Memphis railroad

Can anyone provide additional information about a railroad that operated through Memphis in 1876? The railroad was the M.I.and N. and supposedly was headed to California to take forty Scotland county men to the golf fields of the Black Hills and other parts of the "Far West". I want to know what the letters M.I.and N. stand for and would like to know more about the route.
