Thank you, Jim. Della is my grandmother who had 16 children, and I may now be the only person in the family living who knows anything about her family. It is tough tracing things when the family was farmers and mostly unable to read and write.

Elizabeth Cooper was a Schmitter, and I heard that John Cooper had enough indian in him that he chanted and danced on Elizabeth's grave. My eldest uncle was so embarrassed and angered by it, he wouldn't show anyone where Elizabeth was buried. But that could just be a story. Who knows? I will be traveling to Missouri and visiting with a Schmitter, who has kept family records, this fall.
