Norman family 1900's

I am seeking information on my great grandmothers family who resided in Saline county in the late 1800's early 1900's. My great grandmothers name was Delia Norman. Delia married James William Smith in 1905 and settled in Howard county. Unfortunately she died in childbirth that same year. Her father is listed in the census as a "mule merchant". I believe this family to be Cherokee indian. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
