Pat,
I saw some records of Saline Co. and the railroad you're looking for was probably the C & A, Chicago and Alton Line, which built a railroad through Saline County. In 1871, the Keokuk and Kansas City RR made a survey for a rail line from Glasgow to Marshall, Mo. Work on the grade and right of way was begun, but the project failed. In 1872, the C& A began work to finish the road from Glasgow to Marshall. (Slater is in between) It reached Slater in 1878, Marshall and in 1878, reached Kansas City.
The book Slater Area Centennial 1878-1978 carried the info. They had a listing of train wrecks over the past 100 years, but no reference to Ed Decourcy. I looked him up in the Centennial book, and no listing. This isn't much, but thought the RR name might help.
Best regards,
Mary
